Construction sector is the second largest industry after agriculture. The sector is witnessing sharp growth as a result of large investments being made in roads, power, airports and other infrastructure areas. To help the construction industry to cope up to this ever-increasing growth and shortage in skilled manpower, Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Limited has set up India's first offsite Rebar processing centre at Faridabad and caters the needs of the construction sector in the National Capital Region . The reinforcing bars are procured from the customer approved mills and are cut and bent to complex shapes as per the requirement of the customers.

Virtually every large multinational - including BlueStar, Samsung, LG, Philips, Electrolux, Whirlpool, among others - has set up production facilities in India to manufacture appliances. The overall trend towards higher foreign participation in this sector has also translated into government reducing levies and duties. For instance, duties on air conditioners have come down to 16 per cent from the all time high of 40 per cent.
